Phone numbers are as retro today as FAX or disco parties. But what can be done with them in an age where people other than hipsters or steampunkers use them?
This talk is aimed at people who want to simplify their lives and not use a phone number, but still enjoy some of its benefits while still being able to remain anonymous. I will address why it's important not to use one phone number for everything, how mandatory SIM card registration works, and what alternatives exist for maintaining privacy. Throughout the talk, I will focus on the risks associated with deanonymisation through IMEI numbers and using the same devices in different locations. Examples of solutions include anonymous SIM cards, dedicated mobile phones, SMS forwarding, VoIP numbers, and anonymous eSIM services.
